KANE SEALS THE DEAL.

Tottenham cruise past Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions league knockout stages. A 3-0 lead in the first leg and a goal in the second leg saw them eliminate Dortmund from the competition and end their European journey for this season.

Dortmund started with an impressive high pressing game-plan, closing down the spurs midfield and dominating possession. With 64% possession and 19 shots, Dortmund were unable to find the back of the net. The first half saw the home team creating multiple chances only to be denied by Hugo Loris and Jan Vertonghen, both of whom put in solid defensive displays last night. After a shaky start to the game in the first half Tottenham finally opened the scoring in the 48th minute through a link up between Harry Kane and Sissoko. The game seemed over after the first goal, with the away team winning with a 4-0 aggregate.

Son has been a game changer for spurs this season. His ability to cut inside the wing and score goals has been a major factor in keeping a third-place spot in the premiere league. His influence on Harry Kane has also been crucial with the striker scoring 11 goals in 11 appearances with son starting, compared to his 3 goals in the 9 games son has not started along side him. Son can drop down in the number 9 position to support his attackers, cut inside from the wing or play as a striker for a spurs team which has been riddled with injuries in recent months.

Hugo Loris was the solid wall Tottenham needed to push forward their champions league charge. His brilliant save in the first half, denying Dan Axel Zagadou and then an incredible double save against Julian Weigl and Raphael Guerreiro was enough to ensure spurs kept a clean sheet. In Defense Jan Vertonghen displayed a perfect performance denying Reus a clear on goal shot after 10 minutes and making a series of body blocks to protect his goal throughout the game.

The performance by spurs reflected the potential of a team which continuously loses its star players, but with the form of son, Kane, Davies and Eriksen Tottenham look like a threat to any team that may come its way. How far can they go in the champions league, only time will tell.

Mauricio Pochettino Handed two match ban and a 10,000 pound fine.

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino has been given a 2-match touchline ban for his post-match row with referee Mike Dean following spurs premiere league defeat at Burnley.

Spurs will be without their manager in the premiere league tie against Liverpool and Southampton. This could be a huge blow for them as they look to cement a place for themselves in the top four.
